Mom of the Month: Meet Anna Louise Sheppard
Every month, we hand the blog over to a real mom in our community — same four questions, a different story each time. This month, we're sitting down with Anna Louise Sheppard — a mom who describes motherhood as "the sweetest privilege" and means every single word of it.
Anna Louise is the kind of mom whose warmth comes through even in a short email exchange. She's honest about the hard days, generous with the lessons she's learned, and quick to point out that none of us are doing this alone — even when it feels like it. What follows are her own words, lightly edited for clarity, on what surprised her most, what she never leaves the house without, and the advice she'd give to any mom in the thick of it.

Four Questions With Anna Louise
Like every mom in this series, Anna Louise answered the same four questions we ask every month. Her answers are below — and they're worth reading slowly.
Her Advice for Other Moms
When we asked Anna Louise what advice she'd give to a mom in the thick of it — the sleepless nights, the endless feeding, the pressure to do it all perfectly — she didn't hesitate.
It's a short sentence, but it holds a lot. Because most of us, when we become moms, walk into it expecting to already know how. We've read the books, we've watched the videos, we've listened to our own mothers and our friends. And then the baby arrives and none of it quite fits — because this baby, this specific one, is brand new to the world and so are we.
Anna Louise's fuller thought on this is worth reading in full:
"Every baby is different and is going to need different things. You know your baby best. I think it's so easy to put pressure on yourself to do everything perfectly."
It's the kind of wisdom that comes from lived experience — not from a book, not from a podcast, but from the daily, unglamorous, beautiful work of getting to know a tiny person and figuring out, one day at a time, what they need.
What Motherhood Means to Her
We finish every Mom of the Month feature with the same prompt: Finish this sentence — "Motherhood, to me, is…" Anna Louise's answer might be our favorite yet.
"The sweetest privilege — loving, nurturing, and raising this little person the Lord entrusted to me. It's challenging, beautiful, humbling, and the greatest gift."
There's something about the way she says it — "the sweetest privilege" — that captures what so many moms feel but struggle to put into words. It's not that motherhood is easy. Anna Louise is the first to say it's not. But it's a privilege: something given, something earned, something sacred. And the way she holds both truths at once — the challenge and the beauty, the humbling and the gift — is what makes her words land the way they do.
Thank You, Anna Louise
