“He Stopped Screaming and Just... Melted Into Me”
Please read first: This is one family's personal experience. Individual results vary, and no bottle resolves colic, reflux, feeding difficulty, or any medical condition for every baby. Thyseed products are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease. If you have concerns about your baby's feeding, weight gain, or comfort, please talk to your pediatrician.
Every feed was a fight. Not a metaphor — an actual, arching-back, red-faced, twenty-minutes-of-screaming fight, three or four times a day, for the first month of my son's life.
I'm Tessa. My son is Milo. Those aren't our real names, but everything else here is exactly how it happened.
Three Weeks In
I remember googling "is it normal to dread feeding your baby" at two in the morning, crying almost as hard as he was, holding a bottle he wanted nothing to do with. We'd tried slowing down. We'd tried burping every ounce. We'd tried a different position, then another one, then the one my mother swore by. Nothing stuck.
Nobody tells you that colic isn't just hard on the baby. It rewires how you feel about the most basic part of your day. I started tensing up before feeds even started, bracing for the fight before it began.
The Thing I Almost Didn't Try
A friend mentioned the vent design almost as an aside — something about air being routed away from the milk instead of just "out of the bottle" in general. I didn't fully understand the difference, and honestly, I didn't expect much. We'd already tried three bottles. What was a fourth going to fix?
I ordered it mostly out of exhaustion, the way you say yes to anything by week four.
That's genuinely what happened, and I still don't have a more precise way to say it. Somewhere around the second minute of that first feed, his whole body just let go — the arching stopped, his hands opened, and he settled into my arm like the fight had never started.
I want to be honest about what changed and what didn't. Milo still has fussy days. He's still a baby, not a different person. But the feeds themselves stopped being something I dreaded — they became the quietest, easiest part of our day, most days, which was all I was actually asking for.
What Was Actually Different
We didn't change our routine. We didn't change formula. The one thing that changed was the bottle — specifically, the Bottom Vent System in Thyseed's bottles, which is designed to carry air away from the milk path instead of letting it get swallowed along with each suck.
I'm not a scientist, and I won't pretend I understand the engineering. What I can tell you is what I saw: less gulping, less air, a baby who could actually keep pace with his own feed instead of fighting it.
Tessa's name and some identifying details have been changed at her request, which is also why you won't see a photo here — we didn't want a picture to undo the privacy a pseudonym is supposed to protect. Everything else in this story is hers, told the way she told it to us.
If You're Where I Was
If you're three weeks in and dreading feeds, I'm not going to tell you that one bottle will for sure fix everything. But I will tell you that the fight you're having might not be about you, or your baby, or something you're doing wrong. Sometimes it really is just the bottle. It was, for us.
I wish someone had told me that sooner, so now I'm telling you.
